I am borrowing this picture from the London Buddhist Centre (thank you!) because I am needing to find peace and serenity for my day in Hackney today. Looking away from this place somehow helps me be in this place more fully, if the place to which I am looking invites serenity and grounding. It's the same principle behind putting up buddhist prayer flags - reminders of mindfulness.

Once again, the light at the end of the day is intriguing. This time, it was a like a light at the end of the tunnel. Proof positive that light can work some wonders in the transformation department. Is this the ugliest building or what and yet here its sickly pink approaches something more lovely like the inside of a conch shell. If only the air held a hint of the sea...

3.3.08 Morning Shadows

We are exploring our new neighborhood, watching for shadow and light on our walk to work. It seems fitting to use a bit of black and white as we transition from the colors of the Australian desert to the many shades of grey in our new town.

Evening Swiftly Comes

Since moving back here a week ago from the cloudless central desert in Australia, I've been reminded how quickly the clouds pass across this smaller island. This is evening in our new back garden, as I was watching the cloud move swiftly by.
